Meet the Winners of Our Writing Competition for St Bridget’s Primary School

27 February 2024

As part of our ongoing commitment to community and school engagement, we have been working closely with staff and pupils at St Bridget’s Primary School in Kilbirnie.

Connect Modular is currently delivering 14 affordable homes for North Ayrshire Council across four separate sites in the Garnock Valley and St Bridget’s primary school is situated adjacent to the first site on Newhouse Drive, Kilbirnie where three amenity bungalows will be constructed.

Earlier this month the Connect Modular Marketing team visited St Bridget’s Primary to deliver a presentation for pupils at their assembly covering topics including modular construction, health and safety and careers in construction. The team also invited pupils to enter its writing competition, asking them to write an acrostic poem to describe modular construction or to write about what home means to them.

We were blown away with the volume of submissions and the high quality of work we received and it was a very difficult job to whittle this down to the three winners; Rhys, Amelia and Hayley. We loved their work so much, we invited them along to read out their winning poetry at the ground-breaking event for 14-home development for North Ayrshire Council and they did an incredible job.

To thank the school children for their hard work and amazing effort, each pupil was rewarded with a £15 gift card for Amazon. Connect Modular would also like to thank  Head teacher of St Bridget’s Mr Hopkins, Depute head Mr Coyle and Head of Literacy, Mrs Hume for their help in rolling out the competition.

We look forward to working with St Bridget’s Primary School again in the coming weeks when we invite them to view our houses being craned into position on site after they have made the journey from our manufacturing facility in Cumnock, East Ayrshire.
